Pre-Tournament
First, send invitations about three months ahead of time. The invitations
should state the date, time and place. From there, we can help you decide
on appropriate pre-tournament promotions to build excitement. A fun pack
of playing cards with 52 different golf tips will help players prepare for
the event. Of course, they will need a shirt for the day, with
moisture-wicking properties so no one sees them sweating out their next
shot on the green.
Tournament Gift Bags
Gift bags should be given out before play begins. Choose a quality
tote to hold items they can use during the tournament, such as a sports
bottle, golf towel, balls, tees and divot repair tools. Also, include a
product they will use again and again, like a golf-themed pen. The tote,
too, will be used many times afterward, reminding players of the good time
sponsored by your organization.
Raffle for Charity
Consider holding a raffle for charity at the event. Decide on an
amount per ticket and supply a unique item that players would appreciate
winning.
Awards
When it comes to awards at the end of the day, don’t give only one.
There can be as many awards given out as you and your client decide upon,
for all kinds of achievements, such as Longest Putt, Longest Drive,
Closest to the Pin, and of course awards for teams in A, B and C Flights.
After the Event
Post-tournament, be sure players receive items, like a themed frame or
a training aid for their next round, which will help them reminisce about
the good time had by all.
